The Elephant In The Living Room

Once again, I’m sorry for the writing hiatus, but I’ve been told many a time ‘If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say a word.’
The last few days have been spent in a hard place.
I’ll be making this one unbelievably quick, but I wanted to write and Thank dearly the person who became my first donation! I was randomly checking my email and saw it and my heart leaped out of my throat I was so surprised! Haha

(( If you’d like to receive something for your amount, like a picture or something, just leave me a comment, okie? ))

I’ve decided I’m going to save up for a year, all donation amounts, then possibly go on a back-packing adventure around this country.
There is an amazing amount to see and do, and I feel bad that this is a blog about the Philippines, and all I can tell you wonderful readers about are terrible things about my home-life….unfortunately, I live with other foreigners, and I’m missing the whole point of being here.
I also want to get my Philippine citizenship, which means I have to mingle socially with the people, have a certain amount in a bank, or have a business, (( which I’m trying to do )) and also live here for ten years.

Anyway, I said keep it short, so here’s the rest of today’s title…if anyone has guessed by now, every one of my titles is a quote by an author:

“There’a a phrase, “the elephant in the living room”, which purports to describe what it’s like to live with a drug addict, an alcoholic, an abuser. People outside such relationships will sometimes ask, “How could you let such a business go on for so many years? Didn’t you see the elephant in the living room?” And it’s so hard for anyone living in a more normal situation to understand the answer that comes closest to the truth; “I’m sorry, but it was there when I moved in. I didn’t know it was an elephant; I thought it was part of the furniture.” There comes an aha-moment for some folks – the lucky ones – when they suddenly recognize the difference.”

(( As a Post-Script… My husby does have a drinking issue, but I intend on sticking by him. I have been in many abusive relationships in my life, and many men have taken their own personal demons out on me….this situation is different to the degree that Damon is able to recognize the problems, and tries to work on them….the day he stops working on them will be the day I rethink my position, I promise you all. Also, to anyone who may be in the same situation, nine times out of ten, you should walk away…really think about the cost VS the worth, and never be afraid to ask others for help or support.))
