SORRY!!!

Sorry for the delay, I have been really busy doing the hustlegame.

I quit the resort job. It was getting to be waaay too much drama and way too much tension and my mental health took a dip in the deep end again…I ended up dissociating badly one day and I cut myself again.
Not proud of it.

So I left, and I live in Bais with Doming.
It’s a really nice, small neighborhood, about 10 minutes from the town centre.
I have an online freelancing job as a social media manager, building websites, doing graphic design and flyers/brochures/promo materials/logos, etc for businesses and also doing a bit of photography, even though I don’t have good equipment anymore.

Its a lot less money…about five bucks a day, but it’s enough for now.
I’m worried about my visa renewal, but…..that’s not something I have control over.

I rescued a stray cat named Scallywag, and she’s doing really good. A bit on the bitey side however.
I also tried to rescue a two week old kitten named Scooter….his mother had a litter in my yard and moved every one except him. I tried to feed him milk powder formula, but one day he went from perfectly fine to skeleton and he died in my hands.
I gave him a viking funeral so the ants wouldn’t eat him.
It was really traumatic, but I did my best.

About a month ago I went up the mountain to visit my friends, two of the construction worker guys at the resort live up there….and I got these wicked awesome photos!
Enjoy!

I will try my hardest to update more often!!!

Oh, hey, look a bird….no big deal…
Decided to imprint on me in less than ten minutes and live with me for a day.

Then it got eaten by a huge Gecko while I wasn’t in my room for about fifteen minutes.

You Cannot Live With a Paw In Each World

Image

New kitty alerrrt.

The other night, I heard a weird noise, so I investigated….
I took a lawn chair, put it up against the wall surrounding our house, rolled up one of the big bamboo mats, and made an incline on the other side, and coaxed this little bugger from the bushes.
S/he had a little black ribbon around its neck, so we have to go knocking on doors to see if anyone lost it, but for now, we de-flea-ed it, and are feeding and caring for it.

That brings us to a grand total of eleven cats.
We must be insane. haha
It’s getting a bit on the expensive side, but I can’t just let the poor kitties die.

Today was supposed to be beach resort day, but unfortunately, Donna found out she has breast cancer.
She had a biopsy done on a tumor, and now she has to wait to find out if it has spread anywhere else, but it looks like she’s going to need a mastectomy.

She doesn’t seem too badly shaken up by the news, but I don’t know how much she’s holding in either…she’s kinda good at that.
I feel terrible about it, and now more than ever I want to be able to do something to help support the household…Lord knows how much all the surgeries and medicines are going to cost.
Thank God, however, that we aren’t in Canada….it would have taken her months and months to get the xrays and CT scans and biopsies, and would have cost her thousands and thousands instead of just hundreds.

I finally got tape to build a mannequin, so I’ll be doing that, then getting back to sewing and designing clothes.
Then, I have to figure out how to sell my wares….I’ve looked at a few websites, but they all charge fees, so I think I’m just going to start a Facebook page and sell through there.

I posted a resume-type ad on craigslist Manila for online jobs, so hopefully something comes my way soon.

Just a quick update, not much going on besides that.

As always, my Deviantart prints are for sale here:

Exhaustion Without Reward is Torture

Image

That’s Splatter….Though I gotta say, that’s what I’ve felt like the last few days. Haha
Lazy and exhausted.
Nothing terrible, Damon’s still on a no-drinking streak as far as I know, (( nine days so far )) But in the last five or so days I’ve been sticking to Craigslist, Manila like glue and applying to any job I don’t think is a total scam.
I’ve written about four 500-word articles to send out to people, and I wrote one 6-700 word article for my friend who edits and reviews articles for a Medicanna Magazine named Releaf. She’s published me once before, so I know this next one will be published. It’s a non-paying gig, but getting published work out there is a good thing to have for future references.

I’ve added a few more pictures up on my Deviantart account, and I’m praying that it’ll pay off someday…  I know I’m no professional yet with a camera, but it is my goal to be a pro one day, and hopefully own a Nikon or Canon by this time next year.
Donna said last week she would buy me packing tape so I could make a mannequin to begin designing and sewing clothes again, but….new week, no tape…..she tends to do that a lot, I’ve learned to not get my hopes up too high with her.

There’s an opening party for a beach resort we got invited to for the 3oth, I am going to take Donna’s camera and snap some really good shots of everything…they have a blog on their website, and their pictures aren’t currently the best, so I’m going to contact the owners, whom Donna knows well, show them the work I do after I get home, and then offer to update the blog for them regularly with pictures and write for them regularly…  Perhaps not for pay, but maybe I can stay there for free for a week every month or something.
Or, hopefully, maybe pay AND free monthly accommodation!…  Wouldn’t that be something.

So all in all, I’ve been a busy little turtle on the net this week.
I’m poopered, and I hope it pays off.
It’d be nice to go back to relaxing and enjoying the country instead of running around like a decapitated chicken trying to wrack my brain for income ideas.

Ciao for now….any ideas from you loverly readers would be awesome….and as always, if you enjoy reading, and would like to donate to the bloggity and support me, the link is right here:

The Price of Freedom? About Fifteen-Hundred Bucks

Damon and a huge green wall

Well, I did it again.
Though to my credit I woke up at five am and made French Fries with balsamic vinegar, basil, salt and Tabasco… Watched a bit of Remington Steele, then went back to bed at around nine am.

It is sooo humid today, I think we’re about due for a really good storm to clear the air, and the clouds are moving fast, but I honestly don’t think its going to show up.
It’s funny to look at the weather forecast and see – Windchill: 27 deg.C…In Canada it usually said something like Windchill:  – 20 deg. C

Yes, Negative Twenty, I one hundred percent do NOT miss that.

Damon says he misses snow, and I kind of sympathize… Watching a heavy snowfall from the window as you curl up in fuzzy pajamas and drink hot beverages is kind of a nice experience… But waiting for a bus that may or may not show up while you stand shin-deep in snow, ankle deep in slushy gunk with six bags of groceries that the bottoms are falling out on, while biting, brutally cold wind is ripping at your eyes and nose is pretty much the worst feeling ever.

To explain the title of this bloggity post a bit more…

I was trying to explain to my friends on the ‘ol Book of Face how cheap the cost of living here was, because I miss having people to hang out with, and I want everyone to come here and be as happy as I am… Every single one of them has an excuse about how they have a business to run, or rent to pay, or family they don’t want to leave behind, or they’re stickin’ it to the ‘Man’ or what-have-you…

While to a degree I can understand their situations, I know for a fact it only takes three or four months to save up a thousand dollars, and that’s about as much you need to get here from Canada.

Once you’re here, like I explained to my buddies:

Eggs and tomatoes are around seven cents each…
Onions are ten cents.
A pint of rum is 71 cents, and a pack of smokes is about a dollar.
Two giant lamb steaks are about ten bucks…
A can of coffee is about five bucks.
A pack of ‘mr. noodles’, Lucky Me noodles here, is about 21 cents.

With prices like these, I don’t know why anyone in their right mind lives in the Western world anymore.

For my Filipino readers, just as a comparison, in Canada:
Eggs – 12 for 147 pesos
Tomatoes – 42 pesos each
Onions – about 63 pesos for two or three
A pint of rum – 1400 to 2000 PESOS….FOR THE CHEAP STUFF!!!!!!!
a pack of smokes – 500 to 600 pesos
Two giant lamb steaks – 2500 pesos
A can of coffee – 630 to 850 pesos
A pack of ‘mr. noodles’ – 42 pesos

Isn’t that absolutely insane?
Even while I lived there I didn’t know how anyone could be well-off, and living here, I’ve just reinforced my belief that the western world is going down the tubes.

Anywhoo, Damon and I are still trying to think up business ideas and applying for jobs in other countries, though nothing is looking good for the immediate future… It may be super cheap to live here, but it still does technically cost something.

My ideal dream is for us to move to Siquijor and just live on the beach with all of our cats in a house we build ourselves.
He says he knows enough people that we could probably pay someone a few pesos each month to live on their land, which would be really nice.

Ideally, I would continue this bloggity, and start to design, create, and sell my own clothing and jewelry, which has been a goal of mine since childhood.

He’d go off fishing or hunting lizards or whatever he would do all day, and we would help our community by planting veggie gardens and teaching the local kids random stuff like English, or cooking, or Sports like Bordenball or whatever they needed or wanted…We’d continue collecting cats and keeping them healthy and neutered, and maybe someday even open a little restaurant from our home.

Someday all of it will be a reality… If I made it this far, those dreams aren’t far off the map.

Feel like funding the dream?
